# LinkedIn Ads Data Sync

> Connect a LinkedIn ad account for reporting and approved campaign management.

LinkedIn Ads Data Sync connects one advertising account to an Erdo dataset.
Use the synced data to compare performance and let agents manage campaigns and
creatives through approved actions.

The integration appears in the connector picker once Erdo's LinkedIn app is
configured. Your LinkedIn member must have access to the advertising account.
The app needs approval for LinkedIn's **Advertising API** product. This
connection requests `r_ads`, `r_ads_reporting`, and `rw_ads` from that product;
it does not request Lead Sync API permission. LinkedIn also checks your role on
the selected ad account. A viewer can read data but cannot make changes, even
after granting `rw_ads`. See LinkedIn's [Advertising API permissions](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/linkedin/marketing/increasing-access)
and [campaign management account roles](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/linkedin/marketing/integrations/ads/account-structure/create-and-manage-campaigns).

## Connect an account

1. Open **Data** and choose **LinkedIn Ads Data Sync**.
2. Sign in to LinkedIn and approve the requested permissions.
3. Choose the ad account for this connection.
4. Create a dataset from the connection and enable sync.

You can skip account selection during connection setup and choose it later.
Sync requires an account. Connect again to sync another account. See
[connection accounts](https://docs.erdo.ai/connection-accounts.md) for reading or changing the selection.

This connection requests `r_ads`, `r_ads_reporting`, and `rw_ads`. It can read
campaigns and reporting and can create or update campaigns, creatives, status,
and budgets after each write is approved. New creatives are created as drafts.
Activating a campaign leaves its draft creatives inactive; each creative must be
explicitly activated through its own approved status change. LinkedIn lead form
responses still come through the separate LinkedIn Ads connector.

If you connected before `rw_ads` was added, reconnect the LinkedIn account and
approve the updated permissions before using write actions. LinkedIn does not add
new permissions to an existing access token.

## Manage campaigns with an agent

Ask your agent to list campaign groups, campaigns (called **ad sets** in Campaign
Manager), creatives, or lead forms for the connected account. It can also report
daily campaign performance for a date range.

For a new campaign, provide its objective, location and audience targeting,
budget, schedule, and bidding settings. Matched audiences and exclusions use
existing LinkedIn audience IDs. For a single-image creative, provide the exact
introductory text, headline, image URL, CTA, and either your organization's
verified destination URL or an account-owned lead form.

Each write produces an approval showing the proposed changes. Creative approvals
include the ad critic's advisory findings or an explicit notice if review was
unavailable. Image bytes are checked again before upload; a changed image needs
fresh approval. Groups, campaigns, and creatives are created in **DRAFT**.
Approve their activation separately, then check creative review status and
analytics to confirm delivery. The agent can also pause or archive individual
entities and change group/campaign budgets and schedules.

All actions use the account selected on the connection. Selecting a different
account requires fresh approval for a pending change. Lead-form definitions are
available here; submitted leads remain on the separate lead-capture connector.

## Reconnect when requested

LinkedIn access tokens normally last 60 days. Apps approved for programmatic
refresh also receive a refresh token, normally valid for 365 days. Erdo renews
access tokens when that refresh token is available. Otherwise, Erdo marks the
connection as needing reconnection before the access token expires when it next
checks credentials. Reconnect from the connection's settings to resume sync.

## Existing LinkedIn lead capture

The **LinkedIn Ads** connector continues to handle existing Pipedream lead
capture. **LinkedIn Ads Data Sync** is a separate connection for synced analytics;
connecting it does not move or replace your lead sources.

For API and CLI callers, the native integration key is `linkedin_ads_sync`.
The Pipedream app slug remains `linkedin_ads`.
