# Channel status

> See where your email, WhatsApp, SMS and voice channels stand, and what each one is waiting on.

# Channel status

One read tells you, for each channel, whether it sends today or is waiting on something.

The same read is available to agents as the `erdo_channel_status` tool.

Each of `email`, `whatsapp`, `sms` and `voice` carries a `state`, an optional `reason` and
`remediation`, and the `items` (numbers, senders, domains, registrations) the state came from.

| State | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `active` | The channel sends today. |
| `not_configured` | Nothing has been set up yet. |
| `pending` | Requested, with no more specific waiting state. |
| `registering` | A carrier or Meta registration is under review. |
| `verifying` | A calling trust registration (SHAKEN/STIR, branded calling) is under review. |
| `needs_dns` | A sending domain waits on DNS records you have to publish. |
| `needs_your_phone` | The registration needs a one-time code read off your own mobile. |
| `rejected` | The provider refused. `reason` is its words and `remediation` says what to change. |
| `not_available` | The channel can't be used through Erdo's automatic flow for this organization. |
| `unknown` | The source could not be read. This is not the same as not configured. |

`business_profile_complete` and `missing_profile_fields` are reported once for the organization,
because every registration depends on the business profile.

The read comes from what Erdo already stores and keeps in sync. It never calls Twilio, Meta or the
mail provider, so it costs nothing to refresh. Typical review durations are not part of the
response.
