# Retargeting readiness

> Discover collecting audiences, verify their setup, and review repairs without confusing eligibility with delivery.

# Retargeting readiness

Ask Erdo to **audit retargeting for a connected Google Ads account**. It reads the
provider's actual audiences even when your pages have little traffic or no
first-party analytics dataset. A small audience can begin collecting before it is
large enough to serve.

The daily **Google Ads Audiences** monitor is installed automatically for
organizations with Google Ads connected. Existing organizations receive it through
the regular platform monitor sync. Find it in Automations; an intentionally paused
monitor stays paused. You do not need to create another campaign optimizer or
customer-specific monitoring job.

## What the audit establishes

| Evidence | What it answers |

| Collection | Does an audience exist, what rules define it, and can it collect members? An open list alone does not prove recent collection. |
| Eligibility | What does Google report for this list and network? Sizes can be rounded or unavailable. |
| Attachments and exclusions | Which intended ad groups use the audience, and are converted visitors excluded from the approved retargeting scope? |
| Observation or targeting | Is the audience observed alongside existing traffic, or does it restrict who can see ads? |
| Delivery | Are audience-level impressions or clicks observable in the reported period? Campaign totals and eligible flags do not prove audience delivery. |

Missing evidence is shown as **unknown**, rather than zero or “retargeting off.”
Page sessions are not the same as provider-matched users. Serving requirements
depend on the provider, network and audience type; see Google's current
[data-segment compatibility guidance](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/7476585).

## From a gap to a verified repair

When the monitor finds missing setup, it hands the evidence to an execution agent.
The agent reuses existing audiences, work and pending approvals, then proposes the
specific changes through [approvals](https://docs.erdo.ai/approvals.md). It checks the provider again after
execution. The result distinguishes a proposal, a pending approval, an executed
change and verified setup.

Observation setup preserves existing reach; attaching an audience without the
correct targeting setting can restrict it. The agent verifies that setting before
adding an observation audience. It preserves budgets, bids, existing targeting and
intentionally retired or paused campaigns. New spend, wider targeting and campaign
launches require separate authorization.

If a required tool, permission or consent is unavailable, the finding retains its
owner, evidence and next step. It is rechecked on later runs. A failed read or a
successful handoff alone cannot close the gap.

## Customer Match is separate

A recommendation to create or refresh a Customer Match list does not mean website
retargeting is off. Customer Match uses customer data and has its own eligibility,
consent and API requirements. Erdo can inspect available recommendation evidence;
this audit does not upload contacts, accept customer-data terms, apply a
recommendation or authorize spend. See Google's

## API access

Read the same readiness evidence with the native action
`get_google_ads_audience_readiness(customer_id)` or:

Access remains scoped to the connected organization and its owned campaigns.
Shared or incompletely attributed accounts may leave some facts unknown; they do
not permit access to another customer's audience data.
