# Slack agent

> Connect Erdo's Slack app and talk to your agents from channels and direct messages.

Erdo's Slack app lets people ask agents questions from a channel, thread, or direct message. Agent replies stay in the Slack thread and include a link to the full conversation in Erdo.

When a reply is attributed to a built-in agent, Slack shows that agent's name and photo. System notices and older replies without agent attribution continue to use the Slack app's default identity.

## Reinstall after the identity update

The agent name and photo require Slack's `chat:write.customize` permission. Existing installations do not receive a newly requested permission automatically.

Disconnect and reinstall the Slack app from **Data & connections** after this update. During installation, approve the new permission. Until the app is reinstalled, Slack may reject attributed replies because the existing bot token does not include `chat:write.customize`.
